A COCO fibre sculpture of a woman created by a local artist went on display at the Bendigo Conservatory this week.
The 3.5-metre-high artwork, which had been housed at the Eaglehawk Recycle Shop, was taken to the conservatory, where it will be seeded and fertilised.
The finished work will be a grass-covered figure of woman.
Artist Candy Stevens said she was invited to join the One Woman, One Colour exhibition about a year ago.
She was assigned the colour green for her piece.
"My first thought was `yuk - what am I going to do with this?' she said.
"I wanted to turn it around and make it something positive.
"I thought, nature is green and green represents envy.
"So I did a growing piece and called it The Grass is Green, as opposed to the grass is greener on the other side.
"I wanted to remove the envy element."
The 36-year-old artist said it took her three months to create the artwork, which was funded by a grant from the City of Greater Bendigo.
Ms Stevens, who has a degree in fine art from La Trobe University Bendigo, said she would also be designing the space around the sculpture at the conservatory.
"This is an introduction of the artist and the artwork.
"I'm a bit nervous, but I'm excited."
