Shop till taken in daring theft

3/07/2008 9:59:00 AM
BENDIGO Police are appealing for witnesses following a brazen theft at The Cheesecake Shop in High Street, Golden Square, late yesterday.

Detective Sergeant Brendan Murphy from the Crime Investigation Unit said that at 5.30pm, a passenger from a dark coloured car ran into the shop while the driver stayed in the vehicle.

The passenger stole the cash register, which contained the day’s takings, before running back to the car.

No weapon was used. The store attendant was working at the back of the shop at the time of the theft.

Detective Sergeant Murphy said police were looking for a dark coloured Holden Commodore.

The thief is described as a male, aged between 20 and 30 years of age. He was wearing dark clothing at the time of the incident.

Anybody with information is asked to contact Bendigo police on 5448 1300.
