Footy a real treat for Icon

3/07/2008 9:00:00 AM
FOOTY fans with a disability had a night to remember on Tuesday when they attended the E.J. Whitten Legends game at Telstra Dome.

The group was from Icon Day and Lifestyles service in Eaglehawk.

The match raised funds for prostate cancer charity the E.J. Whitten Foundation and disabilities group Scope.

Icon disability services worker Brian Lamond said the experience was enjoyed by the entire group, who usually attend several similar events each year.

"It’s all part of our broader community access program, so getting the guys involved in big events such as this is really important," Mr Lamond said.

"Community inclusion is really vital and going to an event where there’s plenty of things to see is of great benefit."

The Icon group will go and see stage shows Priscilla and Wicked later in the year, Mr Lamond said.

8/09/2008 | When I heard that some obscure woman from Alaska had been selected as the Republican Party's vice-presidential nominee, my first reaction was not to check the cable news channels, or even the internet news sites. No, my first reaction was to go to YouTube.
