BARBARA Pelczynska is almost 80 years old, but yesterday she showed that neither culture nor age act as a barrier to physical activity.
Ms Pelczynska decided to give skateboarding a try.
She jumped on board to promote the Happy at Home, Live Longer, Live Stronger Expo.
Through the expo, the City of Greater Bendigo hopes to encourage residents to be confident in participating in physical activity.
It also hopes to showcase its aged and disability services.
Ms Pelczynska is a member of Multicultural Action, a walking group that meets twice a week for gentle exercise and coffee.
"I go walking every day for about two kilometres," she said.
"I think having a wide range of interests and keeping busy doesn’t make you any younger, but it helps keep you on your feet."
The expo will have a multicultural theme with music, singing, dancing and food.
Visitors will have the chance to try Tai Chi, strength training and other activities.
International members of the community will be informed of services through interpreters and pamphlets.
Di Parker works with the City of Greater Bendigo to link multicultural residents with community services.
She hopes the day will highlight the options available to them.
The expo will be held at the Bendigo Town Hall and in the Civic Gardens on Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm.
