KANGAROO Flat's YMCA Leisure Centre will be in full bloom this weekend with the Victorian Country Orchid Clubs Challenge.
This is the first time Bendigo Orchid Club has hosted the annual event, which is in its ninth year.
Ten orchid clubs from Western Victoria will enter the challenge, in which teams submit a stand of orchids for judging.
"Each club has a theme usually representing their district," Bendigo Orchid Club secretary Mick Corboy said.
"Our theme this year is the Bendigo fountain."
Twenty judges, including Mr Corboy, will determine the winning team on Saturday morning.
The event will then open to the public from midday to 5pm.
On Sunday the hours are 9am to 3pm.
Admission is $3.
"A beautiful display of exotic and native orchids is assured," Mr Corboy said.
Five commercial vendors will have a wide variety of orchids for sale.
Mount Beenak Orchid Nursery's Clive Halls will conduct an orchid seminar at 2pm on Saturday (gold coin donation).
Refreshments will be available.
