Chalmers re-signs
5/09/2008 | THE Bendigo Bank Spirit has re-signed dynamic point guard Jane Chalmers. The Echuca-based Chalmers played a key role off the bench for the Spirit in the team’s inaugural season and backed up with an excellent SEABL season with the Bendigo Lady Braves.
Bendigo tips off a spirited pre-season
2/09/2008 | THE new Bendigo Bank Spirit will be more versatile in attack, more experienced and shorter this season, coach Bernie Harrower has revealed after the side’s weekend training camp. Harrower also said he was confident his side would adequately galvanise before the season, despite a high turnover of players.
Bank joins Spirit
29/08/2008 | THE Bendigo Spirit’s financial status has been strengthened by the signing of the Bendigo Bank as its new naming rights sponsor. Bendigo Bank, which takes over as naming rights sponsor from Jimmy Possum, has signed a two-year-deal with the Women’s National Basketball League club worth an estimated $50,000 per season.
27/08/2008 | THE Bendigo Spirit team roster for season 2008-09 is starting to take shape with the announcement yesterday that Louise McLean and Anna Teague have re-signed. The Spirit will this weekend start their training campaign ahead of their season opener on October 4 with six spots on their roster filled and hope mounting that another finals challenge is not beyond the club this year.

5/08/2008 | THE Bendigo Spirit has signed forward Eleanor Haring for the 2008-09 Women’s National Basketball League season. Born in Rochester, Haring is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Sport and had a successful college career in the United States. The forward played for the Perth Lynx in last summer’s WNBL action.
4/08/2008 | BENDIGO Telstra Braves coach Wayne Larkins doesn’t lack confidence when it comes to his team, but even he didn’t expect his side to make the grand final this year. The Braves defied the odds and the experts to qualify for a fourth-straight grand final after thrashing North West Tasmania 107-84 in their preliminary final clash in Devonport on Saturday night.

4/08/2008 | THE Bendigo IGA Lady Braves’ bid for a record-breaking third-straight SEABL women’s championship is over after they choked at the free throw line in a heart-breaking preliminary final loss to Kilsyth on Saturday night. While the Lady Braves snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, losing by four points, the Bendigo Telstra Braves thrashed North West Tasmania in their men’s east conference preliminary final clash to advance to their fourth-straight conference grand final.

Campbell, who grew up in Launceston, hasn’t played a game in front of family and friends in Tassie since the 2002 SEABL season when he helped the AIS win the east conference championship.
