3/10/2008 | BENDIGO star David Pell will be aiming for another strong performance against the overseas raiders in this month’s Jayco Herald-Sun Tour cycling classic. Pell’s victory in the recently-run Grafton-to-Inverell clinched the national road series for title 2008. Pell, 27, was second on the opening stage of last year’s Tour, sandwiched between Matt Wilson and Baden Cooke, before going on to finish 11th in the general classification.

The Advertiser Southern Cross TEN Sports Star of the Year for 2007-08 will head to Europe in mid-October to contest the under-25 three-day classics in Amsterdam and Munich.
Cycling stars contest tour
24/09/2008 | FOURTH placing in the Midlands tour and back-to-back wins in Bendigo’s club championship have lifted Shaun McCarthy’s confidence in the lead-up to next week’s Tour of Tasmania. The Bendigo-based McCarthy will race for the Central Coast-Simplot team in the week-long classic. McCarthy’s teammates will include Bendigo stars Tim Decker, winner of last yaer’s Melbourne to Warrnambool, and Kyle Marwood, presently based in Queensland.
