THE Australian Trampoline Sports Championships are presently being held in Bendigo for the second successive year at the Schweppes Centre.
Bendigonians are being encouraged to come along and witness the most spectacular trampoline exponents from Australia and New Zealand as they compete in three disciplines - trampoline, double mini trampoline and tumbling.
Championship director Russell Smart said the exhilarating event was not to be missed.
"I think as most sports go it’s fairly unique, there’s a lot of action, that’s for sure," he said.
"There’s height, flight, somersaults and spills - all the things people love to see in sport."
Bendigo has a strong trampoline sports community, with several past and present members of the Bendigo Gym Centre competing in the event, which concludes on Thursday evening.
Bendigo’s Haylee Wellard managed to claim the junior tumbling title, but narrowly missed qualification for the next stage of the junior women’s DMT event on Sunday evening.
Her fellow gym member Jaclyn McAliece finished second in the tumbling event, while former members Alannah Koch and Rylee Stokes are also competing.
"Bendigo has a bit of a presence in the sport and did a great job hosting it last year, so they’ve got it again," Smart said.
