4/07/2008 9:18:26 AM

Firefighters had to pluck a badly injured woman from a roof awning after she fell from a fourth storey window in Fortitude Valley's Chinatown yesterday.

Emergency crews were called to the scene in Duncan Street about 5.30pm to find the woman, aged in her 20s, stranded on the metal awning.

It is believed she had plunged through a window on the fourth storey of the apartment block a short time earlier.

Fire crews used a ladder to reach the woman and paramedics were forced to climb on to the awning in order to treat her.

She suffered suspected fractured wrists, ankles and internal injuries.

She was taken to the Royal Brisbane Hospital for treament.
