New faces urged for council elections

30/06/2008 9:46:00 AM
THE present City of Greater Bendigo Council is due for election in November 2008.

How about some new blood? I would prefer my councillors to run the city - not the CEO or the so-called directors.

The Mayor is responsible for the overall running of council and the councillors are the elected representatives of the people.

This means the CEO and others report to the council in committee for decisions to be made.

This is not the case at present.

I call on like-minded citizens to put their hands up to oppose the lack of leadership shown by present councillors, and to nominate for council in the forthcoming elections.

Mick English - advertiser Monday 30th June. Yes Mick we do need some new blood. I do hope there are good people out there who will put up their hand to stand for council in November. All the hypes and photo shoots the current Councillors are doing will not take away the "lousy" job they have done for the past 4 years - we will remember the last 3 Community Surveys the worst in the history of this Council - that is telling us something and we should be listening. Vote this lot out.

8/09/2008 | When I heard that some obscure woman from Alaska had been selected as the Republican Party's vice-presidential nominee, my first reaction was not to check the cable news channels, or even the internet news sites. No, my first reaction was to go to YouTube.
